Types of In-the-Ear Hearing Aids

In-the-ear (ITE)

In-the-ear (ITE) and in-the-canal (ITC) hearing aids are custom made to fit inside your ear canal. They can be cosmetically more appealing than standard behind-the-ear hearing aids.

Completely-in-the-canal (CIC)

Completely-in-the-canal hearing aids are custom made in the same way as ITEs. However CICs are contained in a tiny case that fits partly or completely into the ear canal.

Recently, technology has made possible even smaller devices, called Invisible-in-the-canal (IIC). They fit even further in the ear to be almost invisible when worn.

The benefits of CIC and IIC technology are:

  • custom fit
  • virtually invisible
  • self adjusting
