Earwax Removal

Earwax Removal

Safe, fast and painless earwax removal now available at our Moonee Ponds and Hampton clinics

Earwax is important for ear health. It lubricates and protects the ear canal, and has anti-bacterial properties. However excessive earwax build-up can cause ear blockage, earache, infection, and hearing loss. It can also interfere with the functioning of hearing devices.

Removing excess earwax will ensure your ears are kept in good condition. We use the latest equipment including micro-suction – the same safe and effective technique used by Ear, Nose & Throat surgeons.

How much does it cost?

An earwax removal appointment costs $130. If no earwax is found in your ears, a reduced rate of $60 applies.

Do I need a referral?

No, a referral is not necessary.

Should I use eardrops or oil before my appointment?

We recommend CleanEars ear spray, an effective wax softener. It is available in our clinic or from your pharmacy.

Do you see children?

We see adults aged 18 years or older for earwax removal.

Is there a Medicare or private health insurance rebate?

Earwax can be a chronic condition needing on-going care. Chronic conditions may be eligible for a Medicare rebate with a Chronic Diseases Management (CDM) plan. We recommend you speak to your GP about a CDM plan. A rebate may also be available from your private health fund – please contact your fund directly for more information.
